The Many Appearances Of Jesus In The Torah!

The Many Appearances Of Jesus In The Torah!

DONT FORGET TO ADD EX 3:14 AND John 8:58
you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live. - Exodus 33: 20

One of the most common objections of my beloved Jewish family and friends
to my faith in Jesus as being our Jewish Messiah is this

Our God never takes a bodily form like Jesus had! Where in the Old Testament do you ever see a visible being receiving worship as though he were God !?

My response to this question is always the same
I would be so happy to show you! How much time do you have?

Dear reader, I would ask you that same questionHow much time do you have? If you will dedicate the next 10 minutes to the Lord, and ask Him to show you His truth, I believe I can prove to you from our own Torah that Yeshua (Jesus) made many appearances to our forefathers long before he was sent to earth as a babe in Bethlehem! Wont you take just a moment now to pray to the God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob? Ask Him to guide you as you read these next few pages

Let us begin by agreeing together as to what is true about this matter. Please allow me to use a passage from the New Testament to illustrate one crucial point

True ANGELS do not receive worship...

Revelation 22:8, 9
And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel that showed me these things. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book: worship God.

But the Angel of the Lord (Jehovah) DOES receive worship!

Exodus 3:1-6
Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father-in-law And the angel of Jehovah appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And he (The Angel of Jehovah) said put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
Here are 6 other appearances of the Angel of the Lord in the Torah

Genesis 16: 7-15Sarahs servant-girl, Hagar is visited by the Angel of the Lord and calls him The God who Sees !
But mere angels are never called God!

I Chronicles 21:16 David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand
between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the
elders [of Israel, who were] clothed in sack-cloth, fell upon their faces. But mere angels do not accept worship!

Judges 6:11-24Gideon is visited by the Angel of the Lord and offers a sacrifice to him. But mere angels do not accept sacrifice!

Judges 13: 3-24Samsons parents are visited by the Angel of the Lord and Samsons father fears that he will die because he has seen God!
But even arch-angels like Gabriel and Michael have never caused anyone to believe that they had seen God!

Genesis 32: 24-32Jacob wrestles with the Angel of the Lord who changes his name to Israel (prince with God) and builds an altar there. He calls it Peniel, meaning that he saw the face of God ! But no other being in heaven or earth is described in scripture as possessing the face of God
 except God Himself!

Zechariah 3:1-4 The Angel of the Lord speaks to Joshua, the High Priest of the Temple in Jerusalem (during the days of the rebuilding of the 2nd Temple), and forgives his sins!
But the only other being in Torah with the authority to forgive sins is God Himself!

To summarize what we have learned so far, this special divine being our Torah calls the Angel of the Lord was seen and spoken with by 7 different men and women and each one believed that they had seen God and worshiped Him!
He was much greater than any mere angel because angels never receive worship!

Has scripture spoken of any other visible being who has ever received worship?!

Yes one!
John 20 : 24-28
Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord !
But he said to them, Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them.
Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
Peace be with you! 27 Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here; see my hands.
Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.
28 Thomas said to him, My Lord and my God !

Now listen now to the words of Yeshua with which he replied to Thomas faith

Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed;
blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.

The conclusion of many bible scholars is simply this
The divine being who accepted mens worship in the Old Testament as The Angel of the Lord is the same divine being who accepts
mens worship in the New Testament as our own Messiah, Yeshua!

The divine being who forgave mens sins in the Old Testament as The Angel of the Lord is the same divine being who forgives
mens sins in the New Testament as our own Messiah, Yeshua!

Dear friend, Jesus not only accepted Thomas worship, but he blessed all those who, in future days, would believe that he was God in the flesh by seeing him through the eyes of their faith alone! Can you see him now with those eyes?
If you do, then ask Him even now to forgive your sins through the blood sacrifice he made for you on the cross and worship him as The Angel of the Lord and our long-awaited Messiah!

If you still struggle to believe, ask the God of our fathers to reveal His face to you more clearly, because the face of the Father, whom we may not see, has now been made visible to us in the face of His son, Yeshua Ha Mashiach, The Angel of the Lord!

There is one more pair of scripture bookends which help us to see this amazing connection between The Angel of the Lord and the Messiah

In the second book of the Torah, the book of Exodus, we read this

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, I will go over and see this strange sightwhy the bush does not burn up.
4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses!
And Moses said, Here I am.
5 Do not come any closer, God said. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground. 6 Then he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
7 The LORD said, I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honeythe home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.
11 But Moses said to God, Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?
12 And God said, I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.
13 Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, What is his name? Then what shall I tell them?
14 God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: IAM has sent me to you.
15 God also said to Moses, Say to the Israelites, The LORD, the God of your fathersthe God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacobhas sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

May God confirm His Truth to you with His Shalom
