More Record Weather

With the year not even half done, 2008 is already the deadliest tornado year in the United States since 1998 and seems on track to break the U.S. record for the number of twisters in a year, according to the National Weather Service. Also, this year's storms seem to be unusually powerful. The record for the most tornadoes in a year is 1,817 in 2004. In the past 10 years, the average number of tornadoes was 1,254. Since this quote, the U. S. Weather Service has recorded 220 more tornadoes across the U.S. ! Here is another eye-opening statistic I came across

Natural disasters have quadrupled over the last two decades, from an average of 120 a year in the early 1980s to as many as 500 today, says international agency Oxfam

What made this quote even more striking is that I found it on a non-christian web-site and it was dated 11-25-07, 6 months before the Myanmar cyclone and the Chinese earthquake! All this is to say that the words of our Lord continue to show themselves prophetic and trustworthy. Jesus said
There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and epidemics in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs in the heavens.
- Luke 21:11

Look up, saints, for your redemption draweth nigh!
